Welsh Government announces £2.7m infrastructure investment

The finance minister for the Welsh Government, Jane Hutt, has announced plans to spend an extra £46 million in the 2015-16 financial year, with a portion of that funding going towards infrastructure.

£33 million has been earmarked to support Welsh small businesses, while £2.7 million will be used to fund infrastructure projects including work on the Llangefni link road and the Northern Gateway Highway Infrastructure.

Hutt explained that targeted investment in infrastructure was a key priority for the Welsh Government as a vital contributor to economic growth and employment. Despite earlier protests by residents against the new Llangefni link road, Anglesey County Council has said that the road will be a catalyst for the regeneration of the local economy.
