The Road Haulage Association (RHA) has announced that its roundtable debate with the Treasury will be held on Friday 20 February.
The debate will consider the prospect of direct funding for hauliers looking to train new HGV drivers.
At a meeting last month with Business Secretary Vince Cable, RHA chief executive Richard Burnett highlighted the extent of the driver shortage within the sector. The RHA will be asking the Treasury for funding of £3,000 per person to be paid to road haulage employers needing to train new drivers.
