After much anticipation, Downton is pleased to announce that a winner has been chosen for the ‘Fast Five’ competition; which took place at the Grow Gloucestershire student careers event in October.
Lewis Witcomb from Gloucester Academy claimed the top prize of a brand new Samsung Galaxy tablet. The second prize – four tickets to Gloucester Rugby – went to Bournside School student Gabriella Hill, while Andy Hill, the winner of the parents competition, received a Dyson vacuum cleaner.
The competition featured five quick questions about Downton’s iconic red and white trucks, from the cost of a new vehicle cab through to how much fuel a Downton truck will use in one year. Students and parents at the event were invited to answer, and we received over 200 entries from the event’s attendees – so well done to Lewis, Gabriella and Andy for fighting off such tough competition!
Organised by Gloucestershire County Council and held at the Centaur in Cheltenham, the Grow Gloucestershire skills event brought together thousands of students from across Gloucestershire hoping to learn more about the world of work and potential careers. The Downton team were on hand at the two-day event where they talked students through opportunities in the logistics industry and the range of apprenticeships and training that Downton provides for aspiring young people.
