Sir Peter Hendy to move on from TfL

Sir Peter Hendy has stepped down from his position as London transport commissioner to become chairman at National Rail.

Sir Peter joined Transport for London (TfL) – then London Transport – as a graduate trainee 40 years ago. He has led the transport organisation since 2006.

In his time in the role, he played a key role in the development of TfL’s current £4bn Road Modernisation Plan and led the capital’s transport plans during the 2012 Olympics.

He will replace the outgoing Richard Parry-Jones at Network Rail.
