Reduced warehousing costs tops business’ to-do lists

Reducing the cost of running warehousing operations is the most critical challenge for nearly half of UK businesses, according a study carried out by Redshift Research on behalf of Access Delta.

43 per cent of businesses surveyed said that warehouse costs were their biggest challenge. Online ordering, pick and pack operations and wastage were the areas where most companies felt they were likely to be able to improve their costs, if they had the right technology; only 11 per cent said their IT pick and pack system was fully integrated end-to-end.

Almost a quarter of the businesses said they now receive the majority of their orders online, with 50 per cent saying that e-commerce accounted for half or more of their business.
