Patrick McLoughlin remains secretary of state for transport

It has been announced this week that Patrick McLoughlin MP will remain as Secretary of State for Transport after the new Conservative government’s cabinet reshuffle.

Appointed as MP for the Derbyshire Dales in 2012, Mr McLoughlin held his seat with 52% of the constituency’s votes. Mr McLoughlin made the news year when he warned the UK’s HGV drivers would not be able to meet demand in the run up to Christmas.

It has also been announced that Liberal Democrat Minister of State for Transport Baroness Kramer has resigned from her role. Her replacement has not yet been announced.

The junior transport ministers also kept their seats following the election, but roles have not yet been confirmed by the Department for Transport.
