The Road Haulage Association (RHA) has emphasised that customers of haulage firms delivering during this summer’s Commonwealth Games need to have realistic expectations of what is achievable.
RHA director for Scotland, Martin Reid, said members were “reasonably happy” with the information that had been provided by customers, but that they would have liked more time to prepare.
Reid said: “We have to look at these things as an opportunity. Yes, along with the rest of the world we could have done with more time to prepare, but the guys organising the games have told us at every stage when information will be issued and they have delivered on that.”
The comments follow advice from Scotland’s traffic commissioner, Joan Aitken, telling operators to check the Commonwealth Games websites for information which may help them to manage any adverse effect on deliveries.
