New rules to improve cycle safety

Under a proposed upgrade of the Safer Lorry Charge, lorries without cycle-safety mirrors and sideguards will not be permitted to operate in London.

Any HGV’s over 3.5 tonnes will face a fine when entering the capital if they do not have the correct equipment installed. 

Transport for London (TfL) and London Councils are now discussing how to deliver the proposals however it is expected to be enforced with the use of CCTV and on-street checks.
