New generation of cabs delayed until 2022

It has been confirmed that longer truck cabs will not be happening until 2022 at the earliest – a decision that has drawn criticism from industry and environmentalists.

Truck manufacturers want more time for development of the cabs, however environmentalists believe the delay of seven years is unnecessary.

Original proposals from the European Commission were due to come into effect in 2017-18 and were backed by pressure group Transport & Environment (T&E).
