New Chepstow Facility Supports South Wales Contracts

Market-leading Gloucestershire-based logistics company CM Downton Ltd has opened a 30,000ft2 (2800m2) warehouse in Chepstow to support contracts in South Wales and add capacity and flexibility to its growing national network.

The facility is ideally located in the M4 corridor on the welsh side of the River Severn, close to the Severn Bridge with excellent connections to the UK motorway system. It is initially supporting contracts for long-term customer AB InBev.

For AB InBev, the warehouse is storing empty glass bottles manufactured by another Downton client Encirc ready for in-bound delivery to the company’s Magor brewery. Downton also manages the delivery of filled bottles and other AB InBev products direct from Magor to customers nationwide. The site will provide transport planning support for this and other contracts. In addition to the warehouse, the facility includes offices and yard space.

Andrew Downton, MD at CM Downton, said: “Opening in Chepstow allows us to offer enhanced support and service to customers in South Wales. It also adds capacity into our growing network which will allow us to take on new contracts for customers in the area while providing us with more flexibility to configure lean, efficient and cost-effective operations.”
