Minister for Transport highlights lack of women in industry

Andrew Jones MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at Department for Transport, used his speech at the Everywoman Awards in London this week to draw attention to the lack of women in the industry.

Mr Jones noted that the number of female directors in transport had dropped from 9,000 to 8,000 since 2013, but the number of female drivers rose from 39,000 to 44,000.

At the event, women from across the industry received honours such as “Driver of the year” and “Rising star of the year”.
