The London Cycling Campaign has petitioned the London Assembly to ban HGVs entering the capital during peak times.
Signed by more than 13,000 London residents, the petition was presented to four leading Assembly members for lorry safety: Andrew Boff, Darren Johnson, Caroline Pidgeon and Valerie Shawcross.
In addition to a peak-time ban on lorries, the document also calls for the use of direct vision cabs throughout the city and stronger enforcement against non-compliant operators. The Assembly voted in favour of a ban earlier this month.
