Logistics wages rising faster than wider economy

According to figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS), average weekly earnings in the transport and storage sector are outstripping those across the wider economy.

The figures show that average weekly earnings in November 2013 were 2.6 per cent higher than in November 2012 – a year-on-year increase that dwarfs the national wage increase of just 0.6 per cent.

The RHA recently released figures which corroborates this; the RHA’s 2014 cost tables showed a two per cent rise in driver costs in the year to September 2013.
