Kent County Council requests £300m funding to ease Calais disruption, according to reports.

Kent County Council has asked transport minister Andrew Jones for almost £300m of extra funding for infrastructure to relieve the M20 during Operation Stack, according to The Independent.

Taskforce members Kent Police, Eurotunnel and Highways England have reportedly called for £295m to provide a two-way contraflow capability on the M20 and an additional coastbound lane, and a further £8m for a new holding area to park 1,000 HGVs when Operation Stack is in force.

While the Department for Transport has acknowledged receipt of a document from the taskforce, it declined to confirm its contents.
