Industry hits out against Congestion Charge hikes

The increase to the Congestion Charge announced recently has been branded “unfair” by the Freight Transport Association (FTA).

The FTA’s head of policy for London, Natalie Chapman, has hit out at the rises, saying that commercial vehicle operators have been “unfairly clobbered with a bigger rise than casual users of the scheme.”

The changes will mean that the rate for fleet operators under the CC Auto Pay scheme will rise from £9 to £10.50. Transport for London has said that more than £1.2 billion of revenue has been re-invested into transport since the introduction of the Congestion Charge.
