Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) and Highways England have signed an agreement indicating their intention to develop a long-term strategy for key roads and motorways across the city region.
The two organisations have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, which will see them developing a new joint strategy document aimed at supporting economic growth in the region over the next 20 years.
In a statement, Graham Dalton, chief executive of Highways England, asserted his commitment to developing the road network in Manchester. He also noted that more than £200m is being invested in creating a smart motorway on a section on the M60.
