Highways England has said that alternatives to Operation Stack will be put to the government “within weeks”.
The organisation’s development director David Brewer has told MPs that three of four sites where HGVs can potentially park have been identified.
Mr Brewer noted that the earliest off-network parking will be available next autumn. However, Cllr Paul Carter, leader of Kent County Council, has advocated the build of a 4,000 space lorry park to alleviate current issues.
