Highways England research reveals dangerously low HGV tyre pressures

Highways England has warned that one in 12 HGVs have dangerously underinflated tyres, with many drivers failing to check tyre pressures and leaving it up to their depots instead.

In view of the findings, Highways England announced that it is extending its trial scheme with Welcome Break, offering a free tyre pressure check-up at Keele services on the southbound M6.

Originally due to run for three months from April this year, the success of the scheme means it will now be extended until the end of 2015.
