Highways England announces end to grey speed cameras

Highways England has confirmed that all working, grey speed cameras on the strategic road network will be removed and replaced with more visible yellow cameras by October 2016.

The changes – designed to ensure that motorists are not unfairly penalised – come as part of a ministerial review of speed camera policy ordered earlier this year.

Patrick McLoughlin MP, Secretary of State for Transport, welcomed the changes saying that cameras should be used for maintaining safety standards instead of raising revenue.
