Highways Agency appoints new Chief

Colin Matthews has been appointed to take over as the new chairman of the Highways Agency, as of September.

Matthews – formerly chief executive of Heathrow Airport Holdings – will inherit a Highways Agency going through a period of transformation, with the organisation becoming a state-owned company in a bid to save an estimated £2.6bn over the next ten years.

He will take over from Alan Cook, who held the role since January 2011.
