HGV driving test comes under fire from RHA for long delays

HGV driving tests have been criticised by the Road Haulage Association (RHA), who claim some learner drivers are having to wait almost three months for their tests due to DVSA delays.

The RHA has released a list naming and shaming the DVSA sites with the longest waiting times. Topping the list are centres in Manchester, with Bredbury and Atherton having 11-week and eight-week waiting times respectively.

Wrexham (nine weeks), Llantrisant (eight weeks), Peterborough (eight weeks), Darlington (six weeks) and Birmingham, Garretts Green (six weeks) have all also been identified as areas plagued by long delays.

The announcement comes as the industry struggles with a labour shortage.
