The Freight Transport Association urges HGV design changes

The Freight Transport Association (FTA) has urged the industry to look changing HGV design to improve aerodynamics and reduce blind spots.

The FTA said its members are investing a lot of time and money in retrofitting existing HGVs to improve visibility for drivers, but that the best way to eliminate blind spots is to “design them out”.

Reducing regulatory barriers to design, say the FTA, would result in fuel savings, reduced emissions and safety improvements.
