Hauliers to be hit by Congestion Charge hikes

Transport for London (TfL) has confirmed changes to the Congestion Charge which will result in fleet operators making deliveries into London being hit by a 17 per cent price increase.

The increase comes after a ten-week public consultation. TfL say the changes will ensure the Congestions Charge remains a relative deterrent to all but the most essential journeys into central London.

The new prices – which come into effect on 16 June – will mean that the price will rise from £9 per £10.50 per day for registered fleet users (six or more vehicles), with the standard daily rate rising 15 per cent from £10 to £11.50.

In response to the price hikes, the Freight Transport Association (FTA) and Road Haulage Association (RHA) claim that an unfair and unavoidable financial penalty is being placed on hauliers.
