Millions of pounds have been set aside by the government to fix the notorious stretch of road leading to the Air Balloon roundabout.
However, while the money has been earmarked it will not be spent until there is a consensus on what the final solution should be.
One possibility is the A417 Loop, which would see the single carriageway between the Cowley roundabout and Brockworth replaced with a new dual carriageway. The cost for this is estimated at £255 million.
The money set aside for Gloucestershire is part of a larger pot of funding announced by the Government today, amounting to £15 billion for the improvement of England’s road network.
