Oil companies are unfairly profiting from inflated pump prices, according to campaign group FairFuelUK (FFUK). Following a six month pricing analysis, the group has called for UK fuel prices to be officially investigated.
On 3 February, the group launched an analysis of oil and fuel pump prices. The research found that while the cost of oil fell by more than 16 per cent since over the last six months, diesel prices have seen a 1.22 per cent increase. During the same time the price of unleaded petrol rose by more than nine per cent.
Howard Cox, co founder of FFUK, has accused oil companies of keeping unleaded petrol artificially high and has called for an official government inquiry.
