DVSA formed to improve existing agencies

The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) has opened, replacing the Driving Standards Agency and Vehicle and Operator Services Agency.

The DVSA will assume sole responsibility for driving tests, goods and passenger vehicle testing, operator licensing and supervision of MOT’s, as well as enforcing vehicle and driving standards.

The introduction of the DVSA follows a Government consultation last year, which sought ways to improve the efficiency of existing agencies.

The agency, which will employ more than 4,000 staff, will look to invest in training in order to improve its level of service.
