Downton is gearing up for the publishing sector’s biggest weekend of the year, with the Christmas TV guides heading out to wholesalers and retailers across the country.
Over 9,000,000 copies of the Radio Times, TV Choice, What’s On TV, Total TV Guide, TV and Satellite and TV Times will be picked, packed and shipped this weekend ahead of the Christmas period.
As the logistics partner to the UK’s major publishers and magazine distribution companies, Downton will be handling the distribution for the entire operation.
Around 170 Downton trucks will be collecting the magazines from print sites in Liverpool, Leeds, Sheffield, Bicester and Colchester. They will be delivered directly to wholesalers, to be in the shops and available to buy from as early as Saturday morning.
Director Kate Downton said: “We distribute around 260,000 tonnes of magazines each year in the UK, but even by our standards this is a big operation.
“Fortunately, we have the fleet, the staff and the experience to handle a major distribution of this nature. By working closely with our clients to manage the process efficiently and cost-effectively, we’re confident this weekend will go off without a hitch.”
