Downton has won a new contract with the Plastics division of European packaging giant DS Smith.
The contract – secured following a competitive tender process earlier this year – sees us handling distribution of DS Smith’s UK plastics business, Correx, whose products are used in a variety of applications including packaging, point of sale, signage and merchandising.
We will be operating out of DS Smith’s manufacturing facility in Gloucester; delivering consignments ranging from one or two pallets up to full loads out to customers across the UK.
The deal is worth around £500,000 per year, with the potential to grow in the future.
Our contract with the Plastics division builds on a long-term relationship with DS Smith, with Downton having worked with the Paper and Recycling business for several years. We collect material for recycling from high-volume supermarket RDCs, which is then converted into paper reels for the packaging industry at DS Smith’s Kemsley paper mill.
