Moreton Valence-based transport specialist CM Downton has renewed its sponsorship of Gloucester Rugby to extend a relationship that started over a decade ago. Downton’s name will continue to appear on the shirts and shorts worn by the club’s players during top-level rugby matches. The company’s distinctive branding will also appear on pitch-side advertising and on the club’s website.
Gloucester Rugby is firmly established in the Aviva Premiership – England’s top league – and finished in ninth position during the 2016/7 season. For the forthcoming season the club will also be playing in the Anglo-Welsh Cup and the European Rugby Challenge Cup. A number of the club’s players also represent their respective countries in the annual Six Nations championship.
Sponsoring the local team helps to raise Downton’s profile with the local community and presents a number of opportunities to engage with customers during match days. As part of the sponsorship deal, Downton also receives a number of tickets for each match to share with employees.
Mike Turner, Commercial Director at Gloucester Rugby, said: “We are excited to confirm the strengthening of our relationship with Downton, a local success story that continues to grow their brand and we are delighted to continue our partnership with them. At Gloucester Rugby, we rely on the support of our proud partners and Downton is no exception, and we are equally proud to be displaying their branding on our playing shirt and shorts.”
Andrew Downton, Managing Director at CM Downton, said: “Gloucester Rugby is a major part of the local community and culture and we are proud to continue our support for the biggest rugby club in our region. Rugby has many of the family and community values that we have in our own business so it’s natural for us to continue our long term support for our local team.”
