Market-leading Gloucestershire-based logistics company CM Downton Ltd has donated a fully liveried van to local charity Young Gloucestershire for its essential work with disadvantaged young people across the county. The Fiat Fiorino Van will enable the charity’s youth workers to continue support for almost 20 youth clubs. This will save the charity about £1,200 a year to put towards its mentoring programme and mental health consulting.
The company, which based in Moreton Valance and employs more than 1,300 people nationwide, has offered to provide work experience placements that could transform the lives of young people throughout Gloucestershire. A number of youngsters will have the opportunity to join the company’s award-winning apprenticeship scheme.
The services provided by Young Gloucestershire are in increasing demand, with more young people requiring help from the charity, many of whom are disadvantaged by personal problems and challenges.
Karl Gwilliam, Fundraising Manager for Young Gloucestershire said: “The support from Downton is absolutely fantastic. The van will enable our youth workers to continue delivering youth clubs across Gloucestershire but as well as financial support Downton will aim to provide work-experience opportunities for young people that will further their future life-chances.”
