Leading Gloucestershire-based logistics company C M Downton has been crowned ‘Employer of the Year (25+) in the Gloucestershire Apprenticeship Awards.
The Gloucester Citizen and Gloucestershire Echo Apprenticeship Awards, proudly sponsored by Gloucestershire College, took place at Cheltenham Racecourse on 7th July 2016 in celebration of the counties best and brightest apprentices.
The accolade sought to find companies who employ apprentices and demonstrate a strong commitment to their apprenticeship scheme with obvious benefits and measurable results. C M Downton were named Large Employer of the Year, presented by category sponsor Clarkson Evans, having excelled in apprenticeship recruitment whilst facing one of the worst skills shortages ever faced by an industry.
C M Downton have pledged to take on 20 apprentices a year and typically invest £5,000 in each apprentice, before taking them onto the driving team once qualified.
The company’s achievement is credited to Recruitment Manager Ruairi Spencer and Driver Trainer Andy Heaven, who work tirelessly to ensure the company’s apprentices receive a high standard of training to take them forward in their careers.
