DfT data shows increase in trucks in Britain

New Department for Transport (DfT) figures on licensed vehicles show the number of trucks over 3.5-tonnes GVW in Great Britain as having risen to 473,900 last year.

This is a one per cent increase on 2013 and a 2.8 per cent rise since the low of 460,600 in 2012.

The total number of trucks on the road does however remain lower than the 2007 peak of 510,800.

The research from the DfT also shows 3.47 million licensed light goods vehicles on Britain’s roads last year, up 23 per cent in the last 10 years.
