Chris Grayling takes transport brief in May government

Patrick McLoughlin has been replaced by Chris Grayling as transport secretary.  

Grayling was given the brief yesterday during new prime minister Theresa May’s series of cabinet appointments. McLoughlin leaves having held the role for nearly four years.

Chris Grayling was shadow transport secretary between 2005 and 2007, and served as leader of the House of Commons between May 2015 and July 2016.
