£175m contribution from European Investment Bank to support Scottish highways

The European Investment Bank has agreed to contribute £175 million for improvements to major trunks roads in Scotland.

The project, which will cost £500 million in total, will result in increased capacity on the M73 and M74 and the conclude work on the M8 between Glasgow and Edinburgh. According to Transport Scotland, the scheme will complete the Scottish motorway network.
