Downton employees from across the country raised £10,000 for Cancer Research UK, meeting the target set at the start of the year.

Employees from up and down the country took part in running, swimming and endurance events to raise the money.

Kate Downton says: “Each year our employees nominate a charity which ensures it’s something everyone here can get behind.  “This year it has been Cancer Research UK and we are all delighted to achieve the phenomenal pledge to raise £10,000.  “In an industry criticised for its lack of health and fitness, it was encouraging to see so many of our staff signing up for physically demanding sporting events.”

In addition to the individuals and teams taking part in the running, swimming and endurance events, many employees opted to do their own fundraising. These included Lisa Hough’s 10,000ft parachute jump and Sharon McCarthy’s 100-mile sportive cycle ride across the demanding Yorkshire hills and moors.

Every employee who took part during the year was presented with a special sports jersey detailing the national events in which they participated.
